Irresistible Tuna Croquettes Recipe | Made with Jego Tuna

INGREDIENTS

  • Jego Family-Size Tuna, 500g
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 6 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
  • 500 ml Milk
  • 200g Onion, diced
  • 1 large Garlic Clove, minced
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • ¼ cup Fresh Parsley, chopped

For Coating:

  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 2 Eggs, beaten
  • Oil for frying

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare the Filling:

  1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until soft and translucent.
  3. Stir in the flour and cook for a few minutes, stirring constantly, to make a roux.
  4. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring to dissolve any lumps.
  5. Cook until the mixture thickens into a creamy béchamel sauce.
  6. Add the flaked Jego tuna and chopped parsley to the béchamel.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste, cook for another minute, then transfer the mixture to a bowl. Cover it with plastic wrap pressed directly on the surface and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight if preferred).

Bread and Fry:

  1. Shape the tuna and béchamel mixture into croquettes.
  2. Coat each croquette in flour, then dip it in beaten egg, and finally roll it in Panko breadcrumbs, ensuring full coverage.
  3. Heat plenty of oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). (For a healthier option, you can use avocado oil.)
  4. Fry the croquettes in batches until golden and crispy, about 2–3 minutes per side or 2–3 minutes total if using a deep fryer.
  5. Place the croquettes on paper towels to absorb excess oil and enjoy your delicious tuna croquettes!
